Social and emotional intelligence is one of the most important forms of intelligence to develop in children. Children who have a high social and emotional intelligence are physically healthier, more successful academically and socially, and are able to cope and thrive with lifes emotional challenges. Come learn how to how to become an emotion coach to your child(ren) and how to communicate and relate in a way that deepens your connection to them and that builds their social and emotional intelligence.

With dynamic rabbis and other Jewish professionals
Whether you are expecting a baby or have recently had a baby, attend Jewish Baby University to find out about the Jewish traditions and rituals connected with pregnancy, birth and parenting. Boulder’s awesome rabbis or Jewish educators will speak on a different subject at each class. While no degree is offered, this class does offer parents and parents-to-be a terrific opportunity to develop a connection to the Jewish community.

What Parents Need to Know about Child Development

For parents of children up to age six

During this informative, one hour workshop parents will learn about human development as it relates to their childrens emotions, physical behavior, and social interactions. Robin and Karen will teach parents to customize their discipline strategies based upon this developmental framework, thus minimizing power struggles, tantrums, and emotional outbursts. Parents will learn:

Which developmental tasks your child is learning to master at each age

Typical styles of play for each developmental stage

The developmental basis for your childs most challenging behavior and what to do about it

The influence of temperament on the process of development

Tools for Potty Training

This workshop will teach you how to avoid power struggles and make this transition a smooth one for parent and child. Youll be able to identify the optimal time to begin potty training. You will also learn to create a positive environment that encourages your childs emerging autonomy while supporting his or her self-confidence and resourcefulness.

Parents will learn:

-parents role vs. childs role
-physical and emotional signs of readiness
-concrete tips on getting started
-practical suggestions you may have not thought of to make the process
easier
-how to handle child reluctance and accidents
-information on special situations such as the arrival of a new sibling or
another major transition

How to monitor play and decide when and how to intervene.
How to help children shift from blame to mutually agreeable solutions.
