Th
e Boulder Jewish Community Foundation(BJCF) was established in 1994 to help foster and create a place where the Jewish community of Boulder could meet, engage in study and worship, exchange ideas, celebrate and grow together. It was incorporated as a tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation in October 1995.
In 1996, the BJCF bought property at the corner of Folsom and Glenwood to house the Boulder JCC Preschool. However, this space was small and there remained a shortage of classrooms for religious schools, office space for organizations, and a lack of social areas for the Jewish community. To address this, in 1999, the BJCF purchased the property at 3800 Kalmia Avenue, now known as the Boulder Jewish Community Center (Boulder JCC).
In March 2005, the Boulder Jewish Community Foundation (BJCF) spun-out the Boulder JCC as an independent organization. Now, the BJCF is in the process of re-examining its mission and determining its future role in the Boulder Jewish community.
