Jewish Farm School
The Jewish Farm School is an environmental education organization whose mission is to practice and promote sustainable agriculture and to support food systems rooted in justice and Jewish traditions.
Aspirations of the Jewish Farm School are driven by the traditions of using food as a tool for social justice and spiritual mindfulness. Through our programs, we address the injustices embedded in today’s mainstream food systems and work to create greater access to sustainably grown foods, produced from a consciousness of both ecological and social well being.
Anafim: The Sustainable Food and Farming Internship
What does it mean to truly connect with our food? What are our responsibilities to each other and to the land we live on? How can we kindle our Jewish identities with joy and depth while linking up with the complex reality of the world around us?
Spring Session: May 3 - May 26, 2011
Jewish Farm School is proud to introduce ANAFIM, a residential Jewish farming, food, and wilderness internship for High School Seniors at Eden Village Camp in gorgeous Putnam Valley, NY. Working alongside our expert staff, participants grow, cook, and preserve organic food, expand their connection to the wilderness, live in joyful community, and experience a vibrant and embodied Judaism that leaves them radically prepared for young adult life.
The American Jewish Society for Service
The American Jewish Society for Service links social conscience to Jewish consciousness, engaging teenagers in acts of tikkun olam—repairing the world—one house, one park, one community center at a time.
The mission of the AJSS is to build Jewish leaders. Our summer program inspires teens to put their Jewish values into action as they provide significant service to communities in need in communities all across the United States.
Applications for the Summer 2011 program are up. To apply and for more information, visit: http://www.ajss.org/
