(A new family tradition, brought to you by the Boulder JCC)

Who? All Jewish families

What? 4th Night for Philanthropy – a way to encourage giving and discussions of Tzedakah* during your family’s Hanukkah celebration.

When? The 4th night of Chanukah, of course!  Friday, December 19, 2014

How? Decide as a family to give, rather than receive gifts on the 4th night of Hanukkah each year. Donate the money that would have been spent on gifts to a charitable endeavor like supporting the Boulder JCC. Discuss as a family where the money should go and the importance of giving.

Why?  To fulfill the mitzvah of Tzedakah and encourage the next generation of Jewish philanthropists!

*Tzedakah n \tze-da-ka\ 1: justice,
righteousness. 2: obligation to do what is right.
Commonly referred to as “charity.”
