The film likely to spark the most heated debate at a festival known for lively conversation, “Keep Quiet” follows the incredible story of Csanad Szegedi, a young political firebrand and virulent anti-Semite who became vice president of Hungary's far-right extremist party, Jobbik only to discover he was actually Jewish. The film covers Szegedi’s massive spiritual conversion, a three-year transformation during which he faces the painful reality of his past and his own wrong-doing. But how genuine is his embrace of a new religion and ideology? The commentators in the film are sharply divided. Disquieting in its depiction of the European political climate and the rise of anti-Semitism, and all-too-relevant today, “Keep Quiet” begs us to do the opposite.
