Talkback with Israeli Olympic Runner Maor Tiyouri

When charismatic and caring teacher Rotem Genossat sets up a running club for his marginalized students in south Tel Aviv as a welcome distraction from the harsh reality of living as refugees without legal status, he gets much more than he bargained for. The East African students have already run for their lives from the brutality of Eritrea and Sudan. Now they become fierce competitors, hoping to represent the country where they seek asylum. These kids earn our sympathy and admiration, while the film asks probing questions about their plight. An eye-opening look at the innocent victims caught in a civil rights nightmare, Freedom Runners is sure to spark lively conversation.
