Boulder Jewish Teen Council 2012-2013 

Boulder Jewish Teen Council (BJTC) is the advisory board for the J-Teen Department at the Boulder JCC. 

 

2012-2013 Council Members

Dustin Michels, Member since 2011

Dustin Michels is a sophomore at Fairview High School. He has a love for music, and has been playing guitar for the past five years. He is also an avid skier and spends many of his weekends in Winter Park during the snow season. His compassion and good sense of humor drives him to work to improve the world in small but powerful ways. he is excited that the BJTC will allow him to continue to give back to the Jewish community.

Grant Harrop-member since 2011

Grant Harrop was born in Colorado and is very involved in the Boulder chapter of BBYO. In his free time, Grant enjoys hanging out with his friends, playing tennis and biking. Working on the BJTC and being a part of the J-Teen department has been incredibly exciting for Grant and he looks forward to continuing his participation in the upcoming year.

Hannah Fertig-member since 2011

Hannah Fertig is a Sophomore at Niwot High School. She is very active, competing in both Gymnastics and Track. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys playing viola and working with animals. She is very excited about working with the BJTC this year and looks forward to getting to know other Jewish teens in the community. It is Hannah's hope that she can inspire other Jewish teens in her school to get involved and knows that no matter what, she is going to have a lot of fun this year.

Kate Dow-member since 2011

Kate Dow has been fortunate enough to have been active with the Boulder JCC since Kindergarten. She began her involvement with the Kid's Nights program at age 5, and has had a love for the JCC ever since. Kate learned about J-Teen while attending the weekly Hebrew High at the JCC, and has been involved with the BJTC since it's inception in 2010. Kate has really enjoyed working with the BJTC and can't wait to meet all of the Jewish teens around Boulder.

Nate Stein-member since 2011

Nate Stein was born in Houston, Texas, moved to Boulder in 2004 and has never looked back. While growing up in a big city was exciting, nothing compares to the outdoors of Colorado. He attends Fairview High School and enjoys his sports, bikes and hanging out with friends. Nate is very excited to be a part of the BJTC and looks forward to helping build a successful organization for Jewish High Schoolers.

Sam Garelick-member since 2012

Sam Garelick attends Fairview High School in the class of 2014. He is excited to be able to take his ideas and work with BJTC to make them happen. In his free time Sam loves jogging, playing soccer as a goalie and, playing tennis, having just made the Fairview HS tennis team. He is also on chapter board for Boulder BBYO and is excited to plan great programs for J-Teen. One of his goals is to form a good-sized delegation for Team Boulder to compete at Maccabi Games in 2013.

Sharone Goldman-member since 2011

Sharone Goldman was born in Israel where she lived for most of her childhood. Along with Israel, she has been fortunate enough to have lived in six separate countries throughout her life. Just before her sixth grade year, Sharone came to the United States for the first time and began attending Platt Middle School. Currently, Sharone is a Sophomore at Fairview High School. In her spare time, Sharone enjoys writing and learning about the world as well as biking, hiking, running, swimming, and looks forward to coordinating many of the outdoor activities J-Teen will be offering.

Zach McCort-member since 2012

Zach McCort was born in Denver, Colorado and has lived in Boulder for most of his life. Currently Zach attends Fairview High School as a Junior and is on track for the IB Diploma. One of Zach’s biggest passions is football and this year he will be the starting right tackle on the varsity offensive line. Besides football Zach also enjoys mountain bike riding, video games, and spending time with friends. Zach looks forward to a great year the Jewish Teen Council and hopes he can inspire other Jewish teenagers
