On-Site School & Group Visits
We are excited to offer field trips and service learning opportunities for schools and organizations at the Milk and Honey Farm. We invite you and your organization to explore our various touring options listed to see which one best fits the needs and interests of your group. We offer farm visits for groups of adults, as well as children, that will comprise of a variety of topics that can help bring the farm experience to life including: beekeeping and honey, farm maintenance, organic practices, composting, animal care, and so much more! We look forward to sharing our passion for farming and sustainability with you and learning more about your interests! We invite you to submit a request form and our farm staff will contact you regarding the next steps.
Don't know if your organization fits on the farm? Farm visits are a great outing for small or extended family groups, friend groups that want to try something different, sororities or fraternities, work departments or teams, team-building, and so much more! The Boulder JCC is a pet-free campus. Only service animals are permitted at the Boulder JCC and Milk and Honey Farm. We don't want the cost of the field trip to be a financial barrier to your organization. Scholarships are available for field trips.
Farm Visit Options
Farm Tour
30 minutes | Free for Non-Profit Organizations, $100 for all other groups
The 30-minute farm tour is a beautiful opportunity for a more consolidated introduction to the spaces and mission of our farm. Receive a farm tour that includes an overview of our several growing spaces, as well as meet our chickens, goats, and fish.
Farm tour + Explore
60 minutes | $140 for up to 15 participants, Additional fee for larger groups
This program is great for anyone, including younger kiddos and the young at heart! We will spend our time exploring the farm with a focus on sensory exploration of all we can see, smell, touch, hear, and taste on the farm. The farm exploration includes time in our geodesic greenhouse, as well as visiting the goats, chickens, and fish. Activities like scavenger hunts, seed planting, or other small garden projects are also available.
Farm Tour + Hands-On Activity
90 minutes | $190 + materials for up to 12 participants + materials fee, Additional fee for larger groups
This is a great option for groups who want to explore the farm and engage in a hands-on activity. Customizable to the interests of your group and available for groups with up to 12 participants, enjoy an excellent team-building opportunity for work outings, school-aged events, or anywhere in between!
DIY offerings include:
- Milk & Cheese: Goat milking demonstration and learn how to make and flavor your own (cows milk) cheese with herbs from the farm.
- Pickling: Learn about vinegar and lacto-fermentation pickles. Harvest veggies from the farm (as seasonally available) and make your own pickles to take home.
- Body Products: Learn how to make your own lip balm, lotion/salve, deodorant, or toothpaste! You’ll get to explore the different ways we can customize these products and reduce packaging waste at the same time!
- Composting: Learn the ins and outs of composting, soil health, how to reduce waste, and cultivate rich compost of your own by partnering with FBI (Fungus, Bacteria, and Invertebrates). This program includes exploring and taking the temperature of the farm compost pile, playing in the worm bin, and so much more.
- Beehive visit and honey tasting (seasonal availability): Learn about one of our favorite pollinators, the honeybee! We’ll demonstrate the importance of bees and how they function at our farm. Our beekeeper will share fun facts, answer questions and show you up close how cool these hardworking ladies are. Plus as a delicious bonus, you’ll get to enjoy a sample of their honey!
Service-Learning Volunteer Visit + Tour
2 - 3 hours | May include a $135 fee depending on the nature of the group or trip
Weekend programs are assessed an additional fee to cover staff and security costs
Join our farmers and work alongside them on a specific farm project! This visit is ideal for adults or groups of students in grades 6 and above. During your time on the farm, you will receive a farm tour including an overview of our several growing spaces, as well as meet our chickens, goats, and fish! Once orientated to our space, your group will work on tasks alongside our farmers. Projects depend on the season and may include, but are not limited to; composting, seeding, weeding, and planting.
Adult Group Visits
Does your organization wish to provide your team with a new way to connect with each other? Consider a farm visit and activity for your next team outing or team building opportunity. Customizable for your group, participants can work alongside with farmers on our sustainable land, learn how to make a variety of DIY or homestead products, and enjoy time with our farm animals!
