Life Story Writing: Getting Started

Date: September 25, 2018
Time: 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm Contact: Jodi ZicklinEmail: jodi@boulderjcc.org

Rarely do we reflect on our life journey in a meaningful way, let alone organize personal and family stories for the benefit of grandchildren and beyond.

This class will give you the motivation and structure to do that. We’ll provide a theme and prompts that you’ll use to write a two-page story at home each week.

Then you’ll read your stories in class, where you’ll find a supportive group of listeners. We’ll also do exercises to stir memories and creativity. The emphasis is on the stories, not writing technique, but you will get tips to improve your skills. The class is based on a program developed by former USC Professor, James Birren, who found that writing and sharing our life stories improves self worth and creates powerful bonds between participants. This class will remind you of the richness of your life and reveal connections we share with one another.

Tuesdays, September 25 - October 30 | 1:30 - 3:30 pm | $180 | Advance registration only | REGISTER HERE
