Virtual: Continuing the Conversation - Engaging Young People in Conversations About Race: A Tale of Two Mothers - Exploring the Parenting Tool Box

Join us for a follow up to the candid conversation about parenting while navigating the complex issues of race, racism, and social justice that we hosted in June. This time around the conversation will be focused on resources. The panelists will bravely share the differences that exist in raising our Black and White children along with the tools and resources they have used with their own families to help build a more just world.

The webinar will feature:
Jillian Bontke M.Ed., LPC is the Education Director at ADL Austin where she coordinates all Central Texas education programs including No Place for Hate© efforts on over 350 campuses, and A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute anti-bias trainings. Jillian joined the ADL after working as a school counselor where she organized No Place for Hate® coalitions on multiple campuses as well as district implementation of the OLWEUS bully prevention program. Jillian is a Licensed Professional Counselor (L.P.C.) in the state of Texas and is passionate about helping students critically explore their own bias and empowering them to become allies in their communities.

Sherasa Thomas is the Education Director for the Anti Defamation League in Texas/Oklahoma. In her role she oversees all the antibias and anti-bullying training programs, builds community relationships and partners with educators to build equity into their school culture. Before coming to ADL, she has served as Education Director for an international nonprofit, public school administrator and as a classroom teacher. She lives in Dallas with her husband, where much of her “leisure time” is spent volunteering, reading, baking, bingeing home improvement shows and adjusting to the kids being in college.
