Program Description:

Through her tour company, Freedom Rail Tours, Freedom Cartwright brings folks to Montgomery, Alabama, the Cradle of the Confederacy in the Heart of Dixie, to bear witness to the legacy of enslavement, lynching, segregation, and mass incarceration. In this program, we will virtually tour Montgomery together. Through story and imagery, voices that have been silenced and suppressed will be heard and received. Freedom will guide simple practices for bringing awareness to sensations and feelings that arise and provide support for connecting with ancestors. Participants will need a journal and pen, three blank pieces of paper, and a space that is conducive to contemplation.

Freedom Cartwright is an American Descendant of Slavery and Founder of Freedom Rail Tours. Through her tours to the Cradle of the Confederacy in Montgomery, Alabama, she allows the voices of the silenced and suppressed to be heard, received, and celebrated. Freedom's deep desire is to facilitate the celebration of Blackness and the Ancestors whose Presence is essential in the healing of communities and nations. For more information please visit:
