SUMMARY:Floral Arts: Ikebana: The Path of Flowers
DESCRIPTION:Ikebana\, or the path of flowers\, is both a beautiful art form and a
contemplative practice. It teaches us that everyone has the instinct and
courage to express themselves artistically.\nAs with any art\, skill in
ikebana grows through curiosity\, openness\, guidance from a trained
 instructor\, and regular practice.\nIn these workshops\, you'll learn
about the history and philosophy of ikebana. We'll cover the
basics&mdash\;from cutting a stem to arranging plant materials
thoughtfully in a container. You'll get hands-on experience creating both
traditional and contemporary arrangements in the Sogetsu School
style.\nEach workshop can stand alone\, allowing you to join any session
that fits your schedule. However\, it is recommended for those who attend
multiple sessions\, as a sustained practice allows for a deeper\, broader
connection. The classes will build on one another&mdash\;deepening\,
allowing\, and expanding your understanding of method\, technique\, and
form\, and will undoubtedly enrich the contemplative aspects of ikebana
over time.\nEileen Kay has been a meditation practitioner and student of
Buddhism for almost 50 years. She is currently a member of the Board of
Directors of Sogetsu Colorado. She has been the Chair of Kalapa Ikebana
in Boulder\, Colorado\, dedicated to the study of the contemplative art
of kado. She is also an active member of Ikebana International Denver
Chapter.\nWith more than 30 years of experience in the practice and study
of Sogetsu Ikebana\, she frequently demonstrates and arranges flowers at
events and local functions. She has organized\, led\, and participated in
various advanced training workshops over the years and has taught at
Naropa University. Eileen holds a Komon Rank and Certification awarded by
Sogetsu International.\nAll supplies\, flowers\, and plant materials are
provided. Please bring a small bucket or pitcher to carry your finished
arrangement home.\nCancellations are allowed up to 72 hours before the
 class start date.\nWednesday\, March 25 | 1:30 - 3:30 pm | $55\nRegister
