Yom HaShoah Program Lunch and Learn - "Buried Rivers: A Spiritual Journey into the Holocaust"

Author Talk with Ellen Korman Mains

After the Holocaust, how do we not lose faith in each other—or in ourselves? In 2006, Ellen Korman Mains began a series of life-changing journeys to Poland to reconcile her own family’s traumatic legacy with the question of basic goodness. On Yom HaShoah, Ellen will read excerpts from her memoir, “Buried Rivers: A Spiritual Journey into the Holocaust,” and share her exploration of inherited trauma, crossing religious boundaries, and the invisible presence of our ancestors.

The daughter of Polish-born Jews who survived the Holocaust, Ellen is a long-time Boulder resident who continues to spend time each year in Poland, teaching, promoting dialogue, and connecting with her roots.
