Boulder JCC is thrilled to host a moving and memorable evening as we mark Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s 77th Independence Day, with community, storytelling, and celebration. This powerful program features renowned Israeli photojournalist Erez Kaganovitz, the creative force behind Humans of Tel Aviv, Humans of Israel, Humans of October 7th, and Rebuilding Israel. Join us on Thursday, May 1, at 6 pm for dinner from Boychik, a celebration, and community. Visit boulderjcc.org/humans for information and registration.
Since October 7th, the spotlight on Israel has grown more intense—its history, people, and future questioned and examined with new urgency. In this moment of reflection and resilience, we invite you to experience Israel through a human lens with “Humans of Israel,” a stunning photo exhibition that captures the diversity and complexity of Israeli society.
This exhibit brings humanity to this complex nation through compelling portraits and stories. From ultra-Orthodox Jews, Muslims, and Christians to asylum seekers, tech entrepreneurs, artists, and activists, Humans of Israel brings forward the individuals that make up one of the most diverse societies in the world. You’ll meet Ashkenazi and Mizrahi Jews, immigrants from across the globe, and everyday people living extraordinary lives.
Renowned Israeli photojournalist Erez Kaganovitz, the visionary behind these images, will lead us through the powerful stories behind the faces, offering personal insights and sparking meaningful dialogue. In an interactive conversation, we’ll explore the vibrancy of Israeli society, Tel Aviv's spirit, and the Israeli people's extraordinary resilience in the wake of October 7th.
This evening is not just about viewing photos—it’s about engaging in conversation and enjoying dinner together. It’s a space to listen, reflect, and connect over the stories that shape the Israeli experience.
