Sustainability is a foundational pillar at the Boulder JCC. We believe in educating ourselves and the community about ways to live more sustainably. As such, farming and sustainability are integrated throughout our building and program offerings. View some of the initiatives taking place at the Boulder JCC.
- Year-round adult, family, and holiday programs on the Milk and Honey Farm that celebrate Jewish heritage and sustainability.
- Milk and Honey Farm runs using regenerative agricultural practices, including no-till vegetable production, cover cropping, crop rotation, on-farm composting, manual and physical pest control, and large crop diversity.
- The Boulder JCC building is LEED-certified.
- Produce grown at the Milk and Honey Farm is consumed locally in our programs and through donations to individuals experiencing food insecurities in Boulder Valley.
- Solar panels power the Milk and Honey farm, as well as the Boulder JCC facility.
- Hands-on learning laboratory for our Early Childhood Center, Cherryvale Camp, and After-school Programs.
- Reusable cups are used for outside programs and events, as well as internal Boulder JCC events.
- Sustainable Jewish holiday guides provided on-campus and online.
- The Boulder JCC is a member of Adamah's Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition.
- Reusable snack dispensers and bulk snack ordering for Boulder JCC staff.
- Compost buckets are placed around the Boulder JCC facility for the community to use.
- Geodesic greenhouse dome designed by Growing Spaces Greenhouse Domes.
