October 7, 2024, will mark one year since Hamas launched its attacks on Israel, murdering more than 1,200 people, kidnapping more than 250 others, unleashing alarming rates of antisemitism, and changing our lives forever.

This will be a challenging moment to mark in our community, our homes, and Israel. We will unite to support each other with reflection, song, poetry, and prayer. We acknowledge that we hold so many emotions at the same time around this day, including grief, anger, fear, mourning, remembrance, and hope.

All are welcome to come together for connection, support, quiet contemplation, reflection, and remembering those we have lost. This program partners with Haver: Rabbinic Council, Israeli American Council, מתחברים | Mit-habrim | CONNECTIONS funding initiative, a partnership between JCC Association of North America and the Israeli Government’s Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism.

6 - 7 pm: Doors open for community connection and quiet contemplation.

7 - 8:30 pm: Ceremony with prayers, music and remembrance.

8:30 - 10 pm: Community members are invited to stay at the JCC to sing together after the ceremony. In Israel, it is a tradition to come together in song at times of joy and sadness. Music is a powerful tool, and each song reflects the moment. The songs will be available in Hebrew with transliteration and English translation.

We will also be livestreaming this program for those who can not attend in person.

Monday, October 7 | 6 - 10 pm | FREE but registration is recommended
