This is a 2-session series to Learn to play Canasta. The first session is on Thursdays, December 4-18, and the 2nd session will be on Thursdays, January 8-22. Our excellent Canasta instructor, Joyce Laiserin, will teach you all the basics of how to play, how to keep score, and how to strategize. If you're looking to play the fantastic game of canasta while meeting new friends, then this is the session for you.

Canasta is a fun card game of the rummy family of games, believed to be a variant of 500 Rum played in groups of four.

What is Canasta?

Canasta is a card game typically played by two to four players, using two standard 52-card decks. The objective is to form melds, or sets of seven cards of the same rank, and create a "canasta" by accumulating these melds. Players earn points based on the cards they meld and the canastas they complete, with the game ending when a player reaches a predetermined score.

Thursdays, January 8-22 | 1:15 - 3:15 PM | $30
