Come learn how to weave on the rigid heddle loom in this project-based introductory course! Students will learn about the loom, how to thread it, and how to weave. At the end of the three-part class, students will have created a unique striped scarf (or table runner) made from cozy cotton bamboo blend yarn. This class is excellent for beginners or those who need a refresher! Looms and supplies will be provided, or feel free to bring your own. More details will be sent from the instructor after registration.

This class offers all weavers the opportunity to elevate their weaving skills. Students will have two patterns to choose from, all using 8/2 cotton. The basket-weave option is geared toward beginner to intermediate weavers, and the double-heddle towels are geared toward more advanced weavers ready to learn a new way to thread to increase ends per inch. On the third day, the classroom will be converted into a sewing studio where everyone will separate their towel fabric and sew rolled hems.

Workshops will be led by Sara Goldenberg White, who has been teaching weaving along the Front Range for over a decade. Her passion for weaving and teaching started during her graduate study at Colorado State University. She teaches a variety of fiber techniques, but sharing her love of weaving with others is one of her greatest joys. Sara coauthored Simple Woven Garments: 20+ Projects to Weave and Wear with Jane Patrick. Sara also has a lively fine arts practice and has exhibited her work at museums and galleries throughout the country. Sara enjoys the balance of creating her own work and sharing her love of weaving in the classroom. She looks forward to seeing you there!

This workshop will have a minimum of 5 participants and a maximum of 8, and will break for lunch.

The yarn is included in the kit fee, and Schacht Spindle Company will provide the looms at no charge. Looms can be taken home during the session to complete your project.

Kit fee: $55

Tuesday, February 10 | 10:30 - 2:30 pm | $272
