A six-week class for those curious about the wisdom, culture, and traditions of the Jewish people. This program is designed for adults interested in learning more about a few topics related to Jewish culture, history, and practice. We will use the original texts as sources. All materials will be translated, and no Hebrew knowledge is needed. No prior knowledge is required—just an open mind. No textbook is required, but additional resources will be shared, and all source sheets will be provided.

There will be time for socializing and building community.

Amy Kopkin Atkins is our instructor. Amy is a longtime experiential educator and community catalyst. She has two decades of teaching, curriculum design, and program leadership across Jewish, secular, and outdoor education settings. Amy has developed curriculum, taught, and served in administration at Jewish summer camps, boarding schools in the U.S. and abroad, Jewish supplementary schools, a Buddhist-inspired university, and a public high school in Boulder that focuses on equity and inclusion.

Amy is currently the Program Director for Colorado at Youth Celebrate Diversity. She is also the founder of Loomeries, an organization that specializes in catalyzing communities and creating safe and brave spaces for identity exploration with teens and adults.

Sessions will include:

Session 1: Introduction to Jewish values and ethics

Session 2: Torah and Jewish texts

Session 3: Israel

Session 4: Jewish Calendar and the cycle of Holidays

Session 5: Shabbat

Session 6: God

Wednesdays, April 8 - May 13 | 7 - 9 pm | $60
