Art Exhibition with Paula Newman Pollachek
For the last thirty-five years, Paula has been working as a metalsmith on functional art, with a strong belief that should be surrounded by beautiful objects, whether we use them every day or just on special occasions. Judaica is the perfect combination of function and art. The pieces are meant to be used and at the same time can tell a story that creates tradition, adding depth and a lasting presence as artwork in the home and community. She enjoys the challenge of turning rigid metal into flowing pieces that move and delight your senses. Her reward in making Judaica, is taking part in the ancient traditions and rituals of Judaism that still resonate today bringing families together and strengthening communities.
Paula runs Newman Metalworks LLC in Boulder, Colorado, designing and creating Judaica, sculptural and functional artworks for private clients and museum shows worldwide. Paula was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, received her BFA from the University of Wisconsin/Madison, and her MFA from the California College of the Arts in Oakland/San Francisco. She has work in the permanent collections of The Jüdisches Museum Berlin, Germany, as well as The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Culture in Berkeley, California. She is part of private collections in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
Please join Paula and Amit Pollachek in supporting the arts at the Boulder JCC by donating to a special endowed fund created this past June to honor the memory of their son, Ari. Donate to the Ari Pollachek Memorial Arts Endowment Fund here.
