Join us at the Boulder JCC Messinger Art Gallery for the opening of a new exhibition featuring artists Courtney Cotton and Alissa Davies.
Courtney Cotton is a professional artist living and working in Denver, CO, with a BA in studio art from the University of South Carolina and studying at the Rhode Island School of Design and Queens College. After a career in architecture and design, she dedicated herself to creating art and building a family in 1997. She gives a visual expression to feelings, which is evident in her paintings and collages. Her life in the arts encompasses creating artwork, teaching privately, curating shows, mentoring artists, and, most recently, delving into the realm of public art. Her work poses more questions than answers, offering room for interpretation and new perspectives. It connects to something universal, resonating with many people. As more private collectors and businesses continue to support her art, she is increasingly willing to experiment and explore the realm of public art. @courtneycottonetal
Alissa Davies is an intuitive, process-oriented painter who creates abstract acrylic and mixed-media paintings. She is known for her emotion-filled work that is playful and colorful, as well as deep-felt and honest. First and foremost, Davies's art-making is a non-verbal expression of her internal landscape. Her paintings go through many layers and iterations before composition, color relationships, and movement considerations come into play to finish a piece. Her work has been collected across North America and featured in group and solo shows in Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, New York City, and Maine. Davies lives and works in Carbondale, CO, and finds inspiration from the natural world and from watching her two children make art.
