Details
This session will consider views of the soul and the afterlife from a Jewish perspective, both historical and modern, and how these inform Jewish practices at the end of life. We will explore how Jewish death-related rituals teach not only about death and the afterlife, but also present a roadmap for how to live. In addition, we’ll discuss how best to prepare for death, practically and spiritually, and how to communicate this preparation with your loved ones.
Rick Light is a JADE course designer and instructor, as well as the JADE webmaster. He has been teaching about Jewish death practices for more than two decades, showing how respect is woven throughout Jewish end-of-life rituals and enriching the way we live. He is the author of several books on the topic, including "Jewish Rites of Death: Stories of Beauty and Transformation" and "Jewish End-of-Life Care in a Virtual Age: Our Traditions Reimagined".
