Speaker: Dr. Susan Trout
Today, our understanding of gender identity is expanding, bringing meaningful and important conversations to the forefront of our communities. How do we define gender identity, and how may it relate to sexual orientation? Now is the perfect time to learn about the frameworks that shape these concepts.
In this lecture, Dr. Susan Trout presents research and insights into the current conversations surrounding these questions. She will provide clarity on the distinctions between biological sex characteristics and internal gender identity, explaining why traditional terms like “gender at birth” are often inaccurate. Dr. Trout will share current insights into how individuals develop their gender identity and what research shows about supporting people whose identities differ from societal expectations. Questions and respectful discussions at the end of her lecture are welcome.
