Kristen Abbott is a mixed media painter and textile artist who draws inspiration from the scenic landscapes of Boulder, Colorado, where she resides. Guided by introspection and propelled by a sense of joyful experimentation, Abbott’s creative process spans a diverse array of mediums and materials. Through ongoing exploration, Abbott intentionally infuses unpredictability into her work, allowing for surprises to unfold. In her abstract textural paintings, she enjoys making marks and building up layers using unconventional tools such as brooms, scrapers, and kitchen utensils.

In the summer months, Abbott partners with the Colorado sunshine to create leafy cyanotype works on materials like linen, cotton, and silk. This collaboration with the elements rejuvenates her sense of wonder, continually drawing her back to the canvas to capture the enigmatic essence of the landscape and the internal stillness it provides.
