With August coming up, the Boulder JCC has many opportunities to celebrate Shabbat with community, connection, and joy. From Family Shabbat in the Park, in Louisville and Broomfield, to Farmside Shabbat at the Boulder JCC’s Milk and Honey Farm, and Shabbat for ages 50+, the Boulder JCC has it all to help round out the Summer Shabbat season and transition into Fall.

Shabbat, is a weekly 25-hour observance, from just before sundown each Friday through the completion of nightfall on Saturday. Shabbat is more than just a day off from labor, it’s a day of physical and spiritual delights that illuminates certain key concepts in the traditional Jewish perception of the world. Shabbat is celebrated together through singing, studying, and celebrating together, as well as by consuming distinctive Shabbat foods.

On Friday, August 9, starting at 5:30 pm, the Boulder JCC is hosting a catered Shabbat dinner for Adults who are 50+ years of age. Whether you are new to Boulder, or looking to make new friends and connections, join us to welcome Shabbat together with songs, blessings, and challah. This is also a great opportunity to learn more about the Boulder JCC’s new Shabbat programming with OneTable Together. Advanced registration is required, with the program being $25 per person.

The Boulder JCC is also excited to host two Family Shabbats in the Park, in Broomfield on August 16 and Louisville on September 20! Together we’ll sing songs and welcome Shabbat. Make sure to bring a picnic dinner for your family, and the Boulder JCC will provide the Challah and grape juice (a gluten-free option is available with one-week advance registration). Please register in advance.

Each Friday, through the last Friday of October, join the Milk and Honey farmers for the weekly Farmside Shabbat Sing. Together, we'll sing Shabbat songs, read a story, explore the farm, and welcome Shabbat with the blessings of candles, challah, and grape juice. Everyone is welcome but this program is tailored towards kids ages 0-5 and their parent(s) or caregiver(s). Register for Farmside Shabbat through the Boulder JCC website.
