As the Jewish High Holidays approach, this time calls for a sense of reflection, renewal, and community. The Boulder JCC invites individuals and families to unite this high holiday season, honoring traditions passed down through generations. The Boulder JCC is excited to offer a vibrant array of events and activities designed to engage, inspire, and uplift all community members. From a creek clean-up to food drives and family programs like Sukkot on the Farm, there’s something for everyone to celebrate the richness of this meaningful time. Join us as we embrace the high holidays and create lasting memories together.
Tashlich is a Rosh Hashanah ritual in which Jews begin the new year by symbolically casting off last year’s sins by tossing pebbles or bread crumbs into a body of water. In 2016, the college division of Repair the Sea (Scubi Jew®️) at Eckerd College conceived the idea of hosting a Reverse Tashlich, a beach cleanup to remove human “sins” from the water. Every year since, the program has expanded as new communities have joined and removed thousands of pounds of debris from waterfront locations worldwide as part of their High Holiday observance. On Sunday, September 29, at 9:30 am, the Boulder JCC is partnering with Inland Ocean Coalition to host a creek clean-up in Boulder. Take part in High Holiday and sustainable practices within your community, and register on the Boulder JCC website. The exact location details will be provided a few days before the event.
Every year, Congregation Bonai Shalom collects nonperishable food during the High Holiday season to support our neighbors in Boulder and Broomfield counties. This year, in collaboration with Congregation Har HaShem, they will collect bags of non-perishable, non-expired food at the Boulder JCC starting Erev Rosh HaShanah, October 1, through Yom Kippur, October 12. Local hunger is a reality, with 33,650 people in Boulder County struggling with hunger, including 6,400 children. Every contribution matters! Our collection bins will be located inside the JCC on either side of the entrance doors.

Teens will hang out together and enjoy sushi while parents have a farm tour and get to know each other. Then we will switch, and teens will enjoy the farm while parents have a sushi dinner.
