As we move into this season of renewal, we cannot help but reflect on the significance of October 7—a day that will forever be etched in our collective memory. This date marks the anniversary of a tragedy that deeply affected our community and the world. As we gather to remember the devastation that occurred, we also remain steadfast in our hope for the release of the 101 hostages, still held in captivity nearly a year after their horrific kidnapping by Hamas.
To mark this solemn anniversary, our community will host a special program of remembrance at the Boulder JCC on Monday, October 7, from 6 to 10 p.m. This gathering is intended to foster an environment of reflection, support, and connection, ensuring that we do not stand alone in our grief but together in unity and resilience.
We know that this will be a challenging day full of complex emotions. Our program is designed to create a space where all are welcome to honor the memories of those lost, reflect on what we have endured, and share hope for the future.
Event Schedule
- 6:00 - 7:00 pm: Doors open for community connection and quiet contemplation.
- 7:00 - 8:30 pm: The official ceremony will include prayers, music, and reflections. Through song, poetry, and prayer, we will honor the memories of those lost and support one another during this difficult time.
- 8:30 - 10:00 pm: After the ceremony, we invite all community members to stay for a time of singing together. In Israel, it is traditional to gather in song both in times of joy and in times of sorrow. Music holds a unique power to connect, heal, and express what words often cannot. We will provide song lyrics in Hebrew with transliterations and English translations, allowing everyone to join in this meaningful tradition.
For those who are unable to attend in person, we will also be livestreaming the program so that our extended community can take part in this important event from wherever they may be.
