Start your wellness journey and unlock your potential with the Boulder JCC this new year with the following programs to help you improve your mental and physical self.

Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience, and Spirit

Thursdays, January 16, 23, 30, February 6, 13, 20 | 10 – 11:30 am | $144

So teach us to number our days, so that we may get a heart of wisdom. Use all of our days – Psalms 90:12

The “Wise Aging” sessions will address many opportunities and challenges as we transition through the ‘third act of life.’ This program invites us to embrace life and live more mindfully, joyfully, and compassionately by offering powerful tools for expressing the wisdom of our own ripening lives. We will explore the pertinent issues of agin, incorporating mindfulness practices, journaling, meditation, art expression, and contemporary and core Jewish texts.

Bring a journal and pen, open to women ages 60+.  Copy of Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience, and Spirit by R’ Rachel Cowan and Dr. Linda Thal

Facilitated by Rabbi Eva Sax-Bolder.

Qi Gong

Wednesdays, January 8 – February 12 | 9:45 – 10:45 am | $90/session or pay by the class

Qi Gong is an ancient movement meditation practice created as part of the Chinese medicine system. Qi means “life-force energy” or “breath,” and Gong means “work.” Qi Gong’s practice utilizes postures in a rhythmic pattern to circulate qi through the body to maintain optimal health and vitality. There are more than 3000 styles of Qi Gong that are practiced for wellness, energy cultivation, and stress management. It can be practiced at any age, even seated in a chair. No prior experience or equipment is necessary.

Kaiut Yoga

Mondays, January 13 – February 24* | 9:30 – 10:30 | $75/session or $18/class

*The JCC is closed on January 20 and February 17

Kaiut yoga is a practice designed by chiropractor Francisco Kaiut that focuses on working the joints (instead of stretching the muscles). The format is highly accessible, regardless of flexibility, strength, age, or experience.

Lisa Joy Hanckel, C-IAYT, 200YTT, MSAc, LAc. is an internationally certified yoga therapist, experienced educator, and nationally board-certified acupuncturist practicing in Boulder, Colorado. Kaiut Yoga integrates her work of settling the nervous system with embodied movements that bring mobility and blood flow into the joints. She listens to each student’s concerns and carefully observes, meeting them where they are- any condition, age, shape, or size- so they can surrender into practice with gentleness and intelligence. Lisa’s classes combine her working knowledge of the human body with sensitivity, caring, and extensive yoga experience.
