ABOUT OUR PRESCHOOL

The Boulder JCC is proud to be home to an award-winning preschool, the Jay and Rose Phillips Early Childhood Center. Recognized as one of Boulder’s best preschools, we provide a premier early childhood education program in Boulder County where learning is facilitated through play, discovery, and inquiry. Our philosophy is rooted in a strong image of the child. We believe that education is a dynamic process driven by a child's interaction with and investigation of their world. Within our classrooms, every child is encouraged to wonder, explore, question, and discover, honoring their unique learning style and personal interests.

Beyond our curriculum, our Boulder preschool offers a uniquely flexible schedule to meet the needs of modern families, including:

- Full and half-day enrollment options
- Schedules range from 2 to 5 days a week
- Early drop-off availability

CURRICULUM

The Preschool's philosophy and curriculum are thoughtfully designed to reflect excellence in early childhood education, following the schools of Reggio Emilia Italy and the JCCA's Early Learning Framework.

Project work and long-term experiences emerge from children’s ideas, questions, or interests, while teachers, children, and families collaborate to explore them. Through this learning approach, or Emilia-Reggio constructivism, children actively build their knowledge and develop lifelong critical thinking skills - emphasizing learning through experience, where children construct their own understanding. The role of the teacher in a constructivist, play-based classroom is to foster a learning environment that supports wonder, exploration, and collaboration.
